My journey to becoming an educator started when I was an undergraduate at UCSC. In
my studies there I had many unique opportunities to study and learn not only in
the classroom, but in the outdoors as well. My experiences as an undergraduate,
teaching and learning in an experiential setting, led me to participate in a
Graduate Residency Program in Environmental Education through Utah State
University. After many years of teaching and learning in experiential education
I decided to pursue a Masters Degree in Education at the University of Colorado,
Boulder. There I combined experiential education with more traditional science
education, focusing on instruction and curriculum. I have spent the last twelve
years teaching in the classroom setting while still incorporating experience
whenever possible.
I believe that all children can learn and become successful in any capacity they
choose. I am excited to join the WACA staff and learn all about my students as we
continue through this years learning adventure.
I am looking forward to being a part of a strong community of like-minded
“life-long learners” that acknowledge that education is a profession where there
is always room for improvement. It is this aspect and the challenges we face
everyday that make our work so exciting and rewarding.
